Malherbiet
Die Malherbiet is ‘n bekroonde skoolkoerant wat in 1988 tot stand gekom het. In 2022 het Malherbiet verander van ‘n gedrukte, kwartaallikse uitgawe na ‘n vinnige, ‘soos die nuus gebeur’ aanlyn weergawe op Instagram, wat Malherbiete en ouers op hoogte van DFM-sake hou. Die Malherbiet word uitsluitlik deur leerders vervaardig wat ‘n passie vir taal, nuus, fotografie, grafiese ontwerp en videoredigering het.
Die Malherbiet dek alle skoolnuus, van algemene nuus tot sport en kultuur. Joernaliste en fotograwe is ‘n gereelde gesig by alle geleenthede, wat wissel van interskole tot die kunstefees.
Leerders vanaf graad 9 is welkom om aansoek te doen om by die Malherbiet aan te sluit. Aan die begin van elke nuwe jaar hou die redaksie ‘n werkswinkel waartydens joernaliste en fotograwe opgelei word.
Aansoeke om deel te wees van die span vind elke Oktober aanlyn plaas. Graad 8 – 11-leerders wat ‘n passie vir skryf of fotografie het, word aangemoedig om aansoek te doen. Inligting rakende aansoeke sal op die skool se kennisgewingborde verskyn. Die redaksiespan word vroeg in die nuwe jaar bekendgemaak.

Our First-Ever Academic Adventure in Celebration of 70 Years of Excellence The corridors of D.F. Malherbe High School were filled with energy as we launched our first-ever #MyDF Academic Adventure in celebration of our 70th birthday. This exciting day focused on exploring the fun side of knowledge while proving that academics can be as engaging as any sport or cultural event. Learners took part in a variety of activities including music trivia, karaoke, coding, robotics, maths relay, Kahoot challenges and physical science experiments. Every space in the school buzzed with laughter, curiosity and teamwork as houses competed and collaborated through the different challenges. The event showcased what makes #MyDF special - a place where learning, creativity and excellence meet. As one learner shared, “It didn’t feel like school today. It felt like an adventure.” The #MyDF Academic Adventure highlighted our belief that education should inspire, challenge and excite. It was a day that truly celebrated the fun side of knowledge while honouring 70 years of D.F. Malherbe pride. Tangible Africa
D.F. Malherbe Chess Team Takes 5th Place at NMB Play-Offs!🔥♟️ A huge congratulations to the D.F. Malherbe High School chess team for their outstanding performance in the Nelson Mandela Bay Schools Chess Play-Offs, held on Saturday, 18 October 2025, at the St. Thomas Auditorium in Gelvandale! The team finished in a highly commendable 5th place overall out of 17 participating schools, a brilliant achievement following a league season where they displayed consistent excellence by losing only once. The entire squad demonstrated superb focus and strategy throughout the intense 5-Round Swiss competition. A massive shout-out goes to the players and their dedicated teacher, Mrs. Visagie, for guiding the team to such success: * Saud Ackerdien (Board 1) * Ruan Heneke * Migael Potgieter * Cody Claassen * Arnu van Loggerenberg * Tylor du Preez * Kaden Louw * Esti van Rensburg (Reserve Player) Finishing among the top five schools in the region's top tournament is a fantastic result that makes the entire school proud. Van A tot WOW! ✨️ Ons mede-Malherbiet, Mari-Lo Aylward, het beslis uitgeblink in die nasionale ronde van die Sanlam WOW-Spelfees! Mari-Lo, in Gr. 9TZ, het op 11 Oktober teen 30 graad 9-leerders (wat uit die top 4 van elke provinsie bestaan het) by die Universiteit van Stellenbosch in die nasionale ronde deelgeneem. Die kompetisie het bestaan uit 'n totaal van 583 leerders van meer as 300 skole. Mari-Lo het 'n uitstekende 22 rondtes gespel en 10de uit die 30 graad 9-deelnemers geëindig. 🎉 Geseënde Nasionale Baasdag aan ons ongelooflike leiers, Mev. Vosloo en Mnr. du Preez! Vandag sê ons dankie vir twee mense wat nie net bestuur nie, maar met hart, visie en oortuiging lei.
